Synopsis
Lucía Morke is the daughter of a Norwegian couple and she
spends the afternoons reading Gothic tales to her blind neighbour.
However, the letter from a friend who disappeared two years ago
is going to change her life forever. In it he tells her to meet
him on an empty road in Los Monegros, the scene of many urban legends.
One weekend when she is alone, after dyeing her hair black, she
sets out on a risky hitchhiking trip into the unknown. However,
at the meeting place the only thing she finds is the deserted Hotel
Limbo, and, hanging on the door, the compass that she gave him on
the day they almost kissed.
About the author:
Inés MacPherson was born in Barcelona in 1982, as she puts it she
has been a "book junkie" since she was very young. At the age of
16 she began writing stories that she has since performed as a storyteller,
something she has been doing for ten years. With a degree in Philosophy,
she worked for two years in a literary agency while she carried
on reading classic Gothic horror stories. Freeof the office walls,
she has worked as a translator of stories and a writer of self-help
material.
The Secret of Lucía Morke is her first novel for young people, and
she fills it with the ghosts and the attraction fordarkness that
have nourished her world.
